Arfa Iron and Steel Company is located in Chadormalu Industrial Complex located in ARDAKAN, YAZD. Arfa direct reduction plant with a production capacity of 800,000 tons of sponge iron by MIDREX technology was put into operation in June 2012. Following the proved capability and expertise of ASTEC in its first project, i.e., Ghadir Iranian direct reduction project, this company was selected as the operator of the Arfa direct reduction plant in 2012, and also the full operation responsible for this unit was assigned to ASTEC. ASTEC could achieve the record of producing more than the nominal capacity of the plant in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and, 2018. The most important activities completed in this project are:

• Attending all stages of commissioning and testing of the Arfa direct reduction unit using skilled experts
• Performing theoretical tests, specialized psychology and management interviews for employing operating staff
• Holding a comprehensive theoretical and practical training course for staff after being employed through examinations
• Operation of all equipment, devices and auxiliary facilities in different parts of the DRI plant, material handling, laboratory, water supply, gas station and…
• Performing all operations of inspection, service, maintenance, repair and industrial cleaning of equipment and devices
• Planning and executing monthly and annual shutdowns
• Design and development of HSE Plans by specialized implementation
